With so many different types of therapists and counselors, I love to provide extra education into what “MFT” means:
Marriage and Family Therapy is a field focused on the interconnectedness of relationships and mental health.
Marriage and Family therapists (MFTs), work to address how the systems in one’s life (family, social, broader systems, etc…) have an impact on one’s mental health.
MFTs broaden the individualistic view of therapy to attend to the role these systems and relationships play in one’s world.
